Night Photography Workshops for Nphoto Magazine
I was asked by Nphoto magazine back in March to work with them on their apprentice feature for the July 2016 magazine.
The team at Nphoto were impressed with my nightscape imagery and the fact I ran night photography workshops, so they asked me if I would be interested in teaching their apprentice low light landscape techniques, whilst answering questions and giving tips and tricks of the trade. Naturally I said yes, I would be honoured, and we agreed to meet near where I live, on the Isle of Portland in Dorset.
The team consisted of myself, James (the apprentice) and Jason and Simon from the Nphoto team. The shoot commenced at Portland Bill lighthouse before sunset and continued way into the moonlit night, complete with strobes to light us up for the magazine. James used a Nikon D7000, whilst I demonstrated on the Nikon D810 and 610 , needless to say, as with a large percentage of my nightscape workshops, he left wanting to part with his hard earned cash for new gear. He now shoots with a full frame Nikon D610.
Not content with the Portland shoot, the four of us sacrificed a lot of sleep and also pushed for a sunrise shoot at Osmington Mills (also in Dorset).
The images for this blog have been taken from the magazine or were produced by the apprentice.
