Landscape Photography Tuition

This workshop includes traditional landscape photography shoots and tuition amid spectacular mountain scenery.

Nightscape Photography Tuition

Night sky and astrophotography tuition is included within this workshop, with amazing backdrops high up in the Dolomite Alps.

Dolomites photography workshop and tour is aimed at photographers at amateur level and upwards; participants will need a good understanding of their cameras, so therefore, unfortunately, it is unsuitable for complete beginners.

The Dolomites Landscape and Astrophotography Workshop offers participants a chance to get high above lower cloud and shoot landscapes from awe-inspiring locations, due to exceptional access to high mountain passes and peaks.

The workshop will incorporate sunrise and sunset, along with changing daytime light within the landscape, ensuring there are daily opportunities to undertake traditional landscape photography.

Northeastern Italy is home to the Italian Dolomiti,  while the range itself forms part of the Southern Limestone Alps, and probably boasts some of the most iconic and spectacular landscape and mountain scenery within the Alps mountain range.

In addition to photographing the Dolomites by day, the night sky and landscape astrophotography credentials of the Dolomites is second to none!

Get closer to the stars and witness what some refer to as the “million star hotel” over the stunning mountain passes and Alpine plateaus; constellations are easy to pick out, and as a result distinct ones, such as Orion or Ursa Major, along with the setting moon, can be placed over jagged ridges, helping to create stunning landscape astrophotography.

Another relevant night sky photography feature is, of course, the Milky Way, which in addition to the mountainous backdrop, can be amazingly beautiful, as can the constellations as single frame images and panoramas.  Ollie is renowned for pioneering night photography workshops across Europe, and holds nothing back on his workshops and the night photography tuition is delivered in a structured fashion backed up with PDF notes.

Dolomites Photography Workshop – Passo Giau

Ollie runs his workshops in a like manner to his own shooting techniques, thus getting the best from the area and landscape, as opposed to fixing locations 100% but then possibly facing unfavourable conditions.

Locations include Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Passo Giau, Croda da Lago,  Passo Falzarego, Cinque Torri, Selva di Cadore, Santa Maddalena, Lago di Antorno, and more, to include lesser known areas not as frequented by groups of photographers.

Workshop fee’s include gondola tickets for Seceda/Furchetta, with the possibility of night photography depending on the skies, and the team’s fitness and ability to hike 5km down.

Post editing sessions will also take place in the apartments on Lightroom and Photoshop, as well as in-depth landscape and astrophotography planning sessions.

The apartments are located within a beautiful valley situated within Alta Badia, in a scene so picturesque you can literally shoot mountain peaks and low lying cloud from the doorstep or room balconies; there is also a picturesque church within the village that provides an excellent “roll out of bed” sunrise subject with Sass di Putia mountain providing the backdrop.

Due to the remote location, and some late nights, meals are of a mixed affair of food on the road, group meals in the apartments, pizzerias, and local eateries serving traditional Ladin cuisine.

In conclusion, the area is perfect for landscape photographers with an interest in nightscape photography, lake and mountain landscape scenery bathed in autumnal colours, whilst at the same time wanting to explore the outdoors and venture into the wilderness.

Ollie runs the Dolomite photography tours annually in October, and bases his dates on moon phases to enable both traditional landscape, and astrophotography tuition.  To keep up with the following year’s dates, please sign up to the newsletter below.
