This Dorset Night Sky and Landscape Photography Workshop is combination workshop that will focus on nightscape photography, but at the same time, look to explore the stunning Jurassic Coastline in the golden hour, sunset, sunrise, and twilight hours.
Winter is a beautiful and serene time to explore the Dorset Jurassic Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it has an array of world famous spectacular coastal landmarks and formations littered along its shores, providing amazing seascape photography backdrops. The group landscape and astrophotography workshop will include visits to three or four classic Dorset seascape locations which can include Mupe Bay, Pulpit Rock, Durdle Door, Kimmeridge Bay, and Portland Bill Lighthouse.
The coast far quieter, and often deserted in the winter, meaning sunrise and sunset spots are less crowded, and many night photographers give up after summer, though winter is one of the most challengin, but rewarding times for night photography. Alongside sunriuses and sunsets, this workshop will also focus on constellations such as Orion, and the Plough (Big Dipper), alongside the fainter part of the Milky Way still visible in the winter months.
With over 14 years landscape, and over five years nightscape experience, Ollie will take the group through various aspects of landscape photography from composition to creating a striking landscape image, before looking at implementing similar, and new, techniques into nightscape photography field work; and the possibility of shooting the Milky Way on clear nights. As Ollie is located in Dorset when home in the UK, he knows it well, thus ensuring you get the most from the locations visited on the workshop, both night and day.
Ollie will work with the group as a whole and individually with participants, and other topics covered may include settings and camera modes, metering, advanced exposure methods, double exposures and panoramas (depending on individual experience).
Bring your images to life with a post-production editing session to conclude the workshop, along with full planning tutorials on how to plan shoots both day and night.
It is possible to book this workshop without accommodation for people living locally (this must be by the end of October 2018). Discount can be given for two people sharing a room either in a shared double, or single beds; please contact Ollie for further information via the enquiry form tab.
