Landscape Photography Tuition

This workshop includes traditional landscape photography shoots and tuition.

Nightscape Photography Tuition

This workshop includes innovative night sky photography planning, shoots and field work tuition.

The Northumberland workshop is aimed at photographers at early stage amateur level and upwards; participants will need a good understanding of their cameras and is therefore, unfortunately, unsuitable for complete beginners.

Northumberland Astrophotography and Landscape Photography Workshop over 3 days and nights focusing on night photography and traditional landscape photography.

Dunstanburgh Castle Aurora

Northumberland has so much to offer both day and night, as with all Ollie’s combi workshops, nightscapes will take centre stage, with shoots taking place golden hour, sunset, and blue hour, then into the night (late nights in spring); sunrises may be undertaken should weather overcast.  march requires very late nights for astrophotography into the early hours of the morning, but spring is by far the most rewarding time of the year.   Should there be any Northern Light activity, the group will aim to chase the lights.

There may be long driving to hunt clear skies, with trips into Berwickshire (Scotland) and/or Cumbria (England), locations will aim to include, Dunstanburgh Castle, Holy Island and Lindisfarne, Bamburgh Lighthouse, Kielder, Kielder Observatory, High Force, this list is not exhaustive and locations further afield such as St Abbs Lighthouse, Sycamore Gap may also be incorporated.

Locations will be chosen day by day by the weather, this is an effective method that has seen Ollie run the longest standing Landscape Astrophotography workshops in Europe that will be in the seventh year March 2020.

The night photography field work workflow is structured, post productions and planning will also be included, along with PDF handouts with step by step of what we cover.

Should the course book quick enough, we will also attend an event at Kielder Observatory (included) and aim to shoot some astrophotography over the unique structure.

Laverock Law Cottages are an excellent, extremely remote basecamp, situated in a dark sky area of Northumbria, you can literally shoot the Milky Way from outside the cottage doors if yo so wished.

A full list of what to bring to the workshop is issued to the group and via group emails, and also discussed upon booking, please contact Ollie for further information.
