SCOTLAND PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
This Scottish Highlands Photography workshop focuses on the far north, Assynt, Inverpolly, Clashnessie, Stoer Lighthouse, Ben Hope and the north coast, Torridon area, and a possible trip over to the northeast (Duncansby, Castle Sinclair Girnigoe, Noss Head Lighthouse) depending on weather and movements. The workshop will aim to hike one or two of the easier trails such as Stac Pollaidh, though any elevated hikes are entirely weather dependent and will not be attempted with a group in snow or icy conditions.
A reasonable fitness level will be required as aforementioned hill-climbing may be incorporated, up to around 600 metres, hikes over boggy ground, long hours standing; micro crampons may be required due to the time of year.
BOOK YOUR PLACE
Assynt Photography Workshop
In light of potential late nights, and travelling to and from locations, the workshops are not subject to a daily sunrise itinerary and therefore perhaps only one or two may be undertaken, alternatively focusing on the golden hour, sunset, blue hour, and nightscapes. Sunrise/nightscapes shoots will both depend on the cloud cover, cloudy nights will see daily sunrises undertaken and the workshop will take on a similar structure to other mainstream landscape workshops.
Any landscape tuition required is usually delivered to the group, but with time spent with each photographer, whereas the night photography is delivered as a structured workflow to the entire group, with handouts. Structured post-editing sessions are also delivered during the tour, on Lightroom and Photoshop, within which participating photographers are able to follow the step-by-step process on their laptops if they wish. The course will cover how to plan successful shoots; in-depth coverage of all apps, and websites, used by Ollie will also be included.
Durness Aurora & Orion
As with all Ollie’s workshops, the dates are carefully planned to maximise the use of what will be occurring in the night sky against a stunning landscape backdrop, to include Northern Lights where possible.
Ollie runs annual January – March Scotland Photography Workshops in the Highlands, see Glencoe and Southern Highlands workshop here.
Pick up can be arranged from Inverness airport/train station*
