Description
Bioluminescent Algae Cornwall
Bioluminescent Algae with the Milky Way rising over Logan Rock and Pedn Vounder Beach, near Porthcurno, in Cornwall.
This image shows the Milky Way as it rises and lights up the night sky, whilst below a patch of bioluminescent algae glows in the sea.
Plankton that glows in the dark (bioluminescence) can often be seen in many places on the UK’s coastline, though it is more predictable and recurring in areas of North and South Wales, and on the east coast of England. It can often be seen along the Devon and Cornwall Coast, but is less frequent and does not usually appear annually in the same location.
