Description
Isle of Eigg Beach
Singing Sands Isle of Eigg.
Although only 16 kilometres or so from the mainland, and with just over 100 inhabitants, Eigg (meaning ‘notched island) is a beautiful, unspoiled, and car-less island, accessible by ferry from either Mallaig or Arisaig. Great for walking, hiking, kayaking and photography, with its superb beaches and scenery.
One of the prettiest of the Hebridean Islands, Eigg is approximately 9 kilometres north to south, and 5 kilometres east to west; of the Small Isles, it is the second-largest, with Rùm being the largest.
