Northern Lights Durness Scotland

The Aurora over the viewing platform at Durness overlooking Sango Sands in the county of Sutherland, Scotland’s far-flung north west corner.

At 58.5° Durness has been one of Scotland’s longest-standing and best-known locations from which to view the Aurora.

Durness is such a renowned Aurora location that a decade ago if you Googled “where to see the Northern Lights in the UK” there was barely a page full of images on Google, the images that were online, were mainly Durness.
