Description

Stoer Lighthouse Northern Lights Scotland

Aurora and Ursa Major over Stoer Lighthouse, north of Lochinvar, in the dead of night in Scotland’s best dark sky county, Sutherland.

Stoer Lighthouse under the Big Dipper and the Northern Lights.

Stoer Lighthouse was constructed in 1870, standing at 45 feet it is a relatively squat building, however because it is situated on such high cliffs, its light can be seen 24 miles out to sea; it became automated in 1978.

It is situated on Stoer Head, in Sutherland, Scotland, and sits at the northern entrance to The Minch.
