Sunset over the Julian Alps

Night photography in Slovenia.

Forming part of the Triglav National Park, the Julian Alps are part of the Southern Limestone Alps, and are a mountain range stretching from north-east Italy to Slovenia. The highest peak, standing at around 2,864 meters is Mount Triglav, which is also the highest peak in Slovenia.

The Julian Alps were named after Julius Caesar, and in ancient times they were known as Alpe Iulia, Alpes Juliana, Alpis Julia and Alpes Iulias.
